Janet's other project, Grammy Award® winning guitar trio, The String Revolution -Janet Robin, Markus Illko and Roberto Luis is an innovative and dynamic guitar trio that pushes the boundaries of traditional guitar music. Composed of three virtuoso guitarists, they are renowned for their electrifying performances, blending different genres and styles to create a unique and captivating sound. Their intricate melodies, mesmerizing harmonies and grooves, and astonishing guitar skills have earned them a dedicated following and critical acclaim worldwide.

Inspired by her mentor and former boss, Lindsey Buckingham, Janet wanted to form an instrumental band featuring guitar players to experiment with different ways of arranging guitar and utilize the instrument to it's full capacity.

Right before the pandemic hit, their last live show was at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. TSR continued releasing singles through the lockdown. In 2022, a version of Janet’s former guitar teacher Randy Rhoads’ & Ozzy Osbourne’s song, “Crazy Train,” was released. It features Billy Idol’s longtime guitarist, Steve Stevens. The instrumental arrangement was added to SiriusXM Instrumentals channel and catapulted TSR to over 5 million streams on Spotify.

In 2023, they decided to cover “Folsom Prison Blues,” which features guitarist Tommy Emmanuel and was produced by John Carter Cash. The song was arranged in Los Angeles and Nashville where it was recorded at Cash Cabin, the location of Johnny Cash’s personal recording studio. John Carter was gracious enough to let TSR use some of his father’s personal guitars on the recording. The track was engineered by Trey Call, mixed by Matt Hyde and mastered by Emerson Mancini.

The String Revolution (Janet Robin, Markus Illko, Roberto Luis, Tommy Emmanuel and John Carter Cash won the 66th Grammy Award® for “Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella” for the 2024 Grammy Awards.®
